Intended Use:
The latex foley catheter is used in departments of urology, internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics, and gynecology for drainage of urine and medication. It is also used for patients suffering form moving with difficulty or being completely bed-ridden.The Urethral cathetersare passed through the urethra during urinary catheterization and into the bladder to drain urine, or for inserting fluids into the bladder.
Catheterization involves inserting a catheter through the urethra into the bladder to extract urine, which can either relieve urinary retention or measure the amount of residual urine in the bladder, as well as injecting contrast agents or drugs to help diagnose and treat the disease. The catheter used in catheterization is required to be sterile, and the front end should be dipped in lubricating oil before use. The operator stands on the right side of the patient, wears sterile gloves, disinfect the perineum and urethral opening, and slowly insert the urinary tube through the penis or female perineum into the bladder until the catheter has urine discharge. The depth of catheter insertion for men and women is different. Women usually insert 4-6cm, while men insert about 20-22cm. After the urine flows out, another 1-2cm is inserted to fix the catheter and attach the drainage bag
,.,
Urinary catheterization with indwelling catheter is the most commonly used method in clinical management of urinary retention. The indwelling catheter is usually performed by a professional technician. In clinical practice, some patients experience urinary retention, resulting in a bladder full of urine that cannot be discharged on its own, requiring catheterization and an indwelling catheter. The specific operation of the catheter includes the cleaning and disinfection of the genitalia at first, and then the sterile catheter is inserted into the bladder through the outer orifice of the urethra. After complete insertion, urine can be seen to be drawn out by the catheter. At this time, the fixed water sac of the catheter needs to be injected into 10-15mL normal saline to fix the catheter. After successful catheter indwelling, the drainage of urine volume should be observed and recorded
